What a sweep actually involves
- 1Sheet up
The floor and any furniture that cannot be moved are covered before a single rod leaves the van.
- 2Sweep
Rods and a brush head matched to your flue, with the vacuum running throughout rather than only at the end.
- 3Check while he is there
Stove rope, glass, baffle and the cowl outside get looked at, because the man sweeping it is also the installer.
- 4Test and certificate
Draw test, everything vacuumed away, and the certificate your insurer will want to see.
The trade the business was built on
Before Ember & Oak fitted a single stove, Sweep Solutions was sweeping chimneys across Norfolk and Suffolk, and it still is. That is where the 5.0 rating from 27 customers comes from.
It also means every stove fitted here is designed by someone who will be the one cleaning it out next winter. Liners that tar, baffles that warp and cowls that block are not theory, they are the day job, and it shows in the way an installation gets specified.

Common questions
How often should a chimney be swept?+
Once a year for a wood burner in normal use, and more often if you burn heavily through the winter or the flue tars up quickly.
Will it make a mess?+
No. Everything is sheeted first and the vacuum runs the whole time, so the hearth is left cleaner than it was found.
Do I get a certificate?+
Yes, a sweeping certificate is issued on the day, which is what home insurers ask for after a chimney fire.
